If you’ve seen the Amelia dress, you know that it has handset box pleats, an exposed zipper down the back and pockets. The sophisticated structure of the dress makes it wear both as a casual or dressy piece.
Recently, I started seeing pictures of LuLaRoe retailers wearing the Amelia dress as a peplum top. Paired with the Cassie skirt, the Amelia dress worn as a top is such a cute look! I had to try it out and show you how to recreate this adorable silhouette.
1) Put on an Amelia dress and find a coordinating Cassie skirt
I’ve chosen to use a solid Cassie skirt with a printed Amelia dress, but have fun with it! If you’re mixing patterns, make sure that one of the patterns is a larger print while the second is a more subtle or smaller print. Stripes and floral is one of my favorite pattern mixing options!
2) Pull on the Cassie skirt over your Amelia dress
Before seeing pictures of other retailers in this combination, I would have never considered pairing an Amelia with a Cassie. Once I pulled the Cassie over the Amelia, I realized how cute it is! You can even leave the combo at this point, and have the Amelia as a regular “top” with your Cassie skirt. Stopping at this point, though, will give you a large amount of fabric underneath the pencil skirt.
3) Go around in a circle and pull out sections of the Amelia dress
Here’s the fun part! Start pulling the Amelia dress out of the Cassie little by little, adjusting the Cassie skirt as you go. Peplum tops can be long or short, so play with the length to see what you like on your body. Bonus: pulling out the fabric means you get to keep the pockets! A peplum top is adorable, but a peplum top with pockets?! Love it.
4) Rock your new look!
This peplum style is such an adorable, refreshing way to mix up how you wear the Amelia dress. What’s your favorite way to wear the Amelia dress?
